INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DOUBLE GAZE.
Migration flows from Nigeria are constantly increasing and the number of Nigerian presences registered in Italy has risen from 30,000 in 2012 to the current 70,000 presences. Almost half of these Nigerian citizens are hosted in Centri di Accoglienza Straordinaria (Extraordinary Reception Centers) and, to a lesser extent, in SPRAR centers (Protection System for Asylum Seekers and Refugees) and by the social services dedicated to the protection of victims and potential victims of human trafficking. This structural feature undermines important parts of the Nigerian community that is potentially exposed to different forms of psycho-physical dependence, including practices aimed at sexual exploitation, labor exploitation and forced begging, all managed by organized criminal groups.
